Our trip to Rio de Janeiro

Hello travelers!  Tere and I are writing to you to talk about our trip in Rio de Janeiro! 💚🇧🇷Unfortunately this is our last day here, we've been to places so amazing and we don't want to leave. Our main reason to come here was the Carnival of Rio de Janeiro, so we arrived on February 10 and we  stayed at the Festa Solar Hotel located in the north of the city.

The first day we went to Corcovado, where The Christ the Redeemer is located. Did you know that it measures 30 meters high?!.

Next day we were in Ipanema  where we could relax watching the most beautiful sunset in Leblon Beach. In this place the waves are good for surfing so we decided to give it a try but we failed. 🏄🏻‍♀️

When the first day of the carnival started we were very excited. The clothes and the carriages are the most spectacular in this celebration, everybody wears colorful costumes and dances to the rhythm of Samba. 💃🏻🎊

Another of our plans was to visit some neighborhoods of the city and we went to Santa Marta and Santa Teresa. It’s amazing to see the geomorphic aspect of the favela, with large hills and portions of vegetation mixing with large buildings. Also, we found here a sculpture of Michael Jackson.

In Santa Teresa  there is a lot of urban art, many restaurants and colonial streets. We loved the Selarón Staircase, with 215 steps decorated with brightly colored ceramics by Chilean artist Jorge Selarón, it’s so cool.

As you can see, we have done many things during our stay in Rio de Janeiro. If we had to pick one, I think it would be the Carnival because it was filled with music and dancing. Many people wore clothes of extravagant colors and had fantasy masks. The atmosphere was amazing, and we had the time of our lives.

Of course, not everything can be perfect. To go from one place to another we had to take a cab, and this could be perfect but, the traffic in Rio is horrible. Also, there were times when the weather was very cloudy and, as a matter of fact, Rio de Janeiro is one of the most polluted cities in the world, so, some photos will be ruined because of these reasons.📸

But, despite all this, of course we will be back to Rio de Janeiro. This city is filled with life and music, there is some kind of magic in the streets and they are surrounded by an aura of joy and excitement that spreads quickly into the visitors. ✨

But some of our recommendations will be:

·         If you go to the carnival make sure that you wear comfortable clothes, also, check the weather. The nights are hot here and if you are dancing, even more! You don’t want to wear many clothes during a hot night.

·         It is important to follow the rules of the Ipanema Beach because sometimes the waves can be a little strong and you may have trouble in the water. Locate your nearest lifeguard.

·         Remember, your security is important, so be aware of the news and try to avoid the risky places. Rio is a beautiful city but it is important to take preventive measures so our stay does not become disastrous.

·         And please, plan your schedule. The time can vary when you try to go from one place to another, you can take 30 minutes if you are lucky or you can take two hours to get to your destination.
